Alaska weatherization project chugs along
On a national level, the government’s $5 billion weatherization program for homeowners has seen delays and obstacles in its path, but locally, in Alaska, the state’s own version of the project has seen some success.
In 2008, Washington announced a $5 billion weatherization program aimed at making homes across the United States more environmentally friendly by insulating them from heat or cold, which would decrease energy costs, and installing energy-saving light fixtures, water-saving taps and a range of other projects in order to reduce energy costs for homeowners while providing a boost to the near-crippled economy at the same time.
